Wiz Khalifa has been arrested in Romania and charged with illegal drug possession.
According to reports from French news agency Agence France Presse (AFP), the rapper and actor (real name Cameron Thomaz), 36, was headlining the “Beach, Please!” festival in Costinesti, Romania, where authorities allegedly found cannabis in his possession in the early hours of Sunday, July 14, prosecutors said.
According to the outlet, cannabis is considered a “risk drug” under Romanian law, and if Khalifa is convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison.
The Romanian anti-organized crime prosecutors organization DIICOT said in a statement to the French outlet on Sunday that the “See You Again” rapper smoked the drug onstage during his performance.
“During a performance at a music festival held in the resort of Costinesti, the accused was found to have possessed more than 18 grams of cannabis and to have consumed (onstage) another quantity in the form of a handmade cigarette,” DIICOT said in its statement.
A source who spoke with the outlet also alleged that Khalifa was taken in for questioning by local authorities early on Sunday along with several other people. He was charged but released soon after.
The Dickinson actor shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) about his arrest shortly after being released.
“Last nights show was amazing. I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage,” he wrote. “They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But without a big ass joint next time.”
The investigation is ongoing, AFP reported.
Cannabis serves as a big part of the rapper’s image, and he often talks about smoking in his lyrics. Earlier this year, he joked that he has even attended his son’s parent-teacher conferences high, telling host Alex Cooper on an episode of her Call Her Daddy podcast that the teachers “expect it.”
“Hell yeah. I’m pulling up stoned. They expect it,” Khalifa responded. “They know what’s up. It’s not like back in the day [where] you’re considered a bad parent if you smoke weed. I’m pretty sure my son smells like weed. I don’t know because I can’t smell it but I’m pretty sure he smells like pot.”

The summer has marked a busy time for the musician. Just last month, he and his girlfriend, Aimee Aguilar, revealed that they are expecting their first child together, a girl.
In an Instagram post shared on Father’s Day, Khalifa wrote, “Baby Girl On The Way,” alongside a photo of the pair posing with a positive pregnancy test.
Khalifa also shares his 11-year-old son, Sebastian Taylor, with ex-girlfriend Amber Rose.
